Assam Government Awards Digital Content Platform Mandate to Bodhi Tree Multimedia

The partnership includes responsibility for platform development, audience growth, subscription services, revenue generation, and ongoing management.

Bodhi Tree Multimedia has been given the responsibility by the Government of Assam to create, launch, and handle the state’s official digital content platform, which represents the company’s move into the area of digital platform development and management.

The platform will function as a digital hub for Assamese entertainment and cultural content, featuring films, music, heritage programs, live events, and content created by individual creators. It is intended for use on mobile devices, web browsers, and connected television systems.

Under the mandate, the agency will be in charge of developing the platform, planning its content, managing subscriptions, setting up the monetization system, and handling its ongoing operations in the long term.

The project is now in a later stage of implementation, and the main technological framework has been largely finished. Current work is centered on building brand identity, integrating content, and developing the ecosystem.

The platform aims to enhance the availability of Assamese content for audiences both within India and abroad.

The project marks a shift for the board, moving it away from its usual focus on content production towards owning and managing platforms. The board recognizes potential in the increasing overlap between digital distribution, local content systems, and government-driven efforts to digitize cultural materials.

The platform is being developed in collaboration with Mogi OTT and will utilize Google Cloud infrastructure, backed by a content delivery network and Kubernetes-based auto-scaling technology.

Commenting on the development, Mautik Tolia, Managing Director and CEO of Bodhi Tree Multimedia Ltd., stated, “This mandate reflects the growing role of media companies in creating digital ecosystems, not just producing content.” We think the future of the industry will emerge where storytelling, technology, and distribution systems come together. Assam’s plan to develop a specific online platform focused on its cultural and creative industries matches well with this opportunity.

For Bodhi Tree, the project introduces a new aspect to our business approach by leveraging long-term platform management skills, and it establishes a flexible structure that has the potential to be applied in various regions in the future.

The program may act as a valuable example for other states planning similar cultural digitization initiatives, especially as governments continue to boost spending on digital outreach, cultural preservation, and public engagement efforts.
