In India, Claude Pro subscriptions cost Rs 2,000/month yearly or Rs 2,399 monthly, however users cannot pay using UPI and must utilize cards or app store billing.
Anthropic has began rolling out India-specific pricing for its Claude AI subscriptions, enabling customers to pay in Indian rupees rather than US dollars, according to TechCrunch.
Local pricing is already displaying for some consumers on Claude’s website and mobile applications. However, consumers in India are still unable to pay via the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and must instead utilize credit or debit cards, as well as Apple and Google’s app store billing systems.
The move comes as Anthropic ramps up its emphasis on India, which the firm claims contributes for 5.8% of worldwide Claude consumption, making it its second-largest market after the US.
On Claude’s website, the Claude Pro plan costs Rs 2,000 per month with yearly billing or Rs 2,399 per month with monthly billing. Claude Max is offered in two tiers: the 5x plan costs Rs 11,999 per month, while the 20x plan costs Rs 23,999 per month. The Claude Team Standard plan costs Rs 2,399 per user per month with annual billing or Rs 2,999 with monthly billing, whilst the Team Premium plan costs Rs 11,999 per year or Rs 14,999 with monthly billing. All quoted prices include GST.
The free version of Claude will remain available in India.
Claude Pro includes Anthropic’s Sonnet 5 model by default, as well as Opus and Fable 5, higher usage limits than the free plan, Research mode, unlimited Projects, Memory, web search, file uploads, voice mode, Claude Code, Claude Design, Microsoft 365 integration, and Excel and PowerPoint support.
The Claude Max plans provide the same features as Claude Pro, but with larger use limitations, priority access during peak demand, longer Claude Code sessions, and early access to new models and features.
For organizations, Claude Team plans feature a 200K context window, Claude Code, Claude Cowork, API usage credits, centralized invoicing, administration tools, single sign-on, domain capture, and administrative controls. Anthropic also says content from Claude Team customers is not used to train its AI models by default.
Anthropic built an office in Bengaluru early this year, after the announcement of its India expansion last year. In addition, former Microsoft India managing director Irina Ghose has been chosen to oversee the company’s India division, and it has teamed with Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services to boost corporate AI installations.
In June, the business briefly banned non-US players’ access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models, causing some Indian developers to look into alternatives. Access to Fable 5 has been restored, however Mythos 5 remains limited.
