Google has announced two AI updates: the availability of the Google Pics picture creation and editing tool to Google AI Pro and Ultra members, as well as the majority of Workspace commercial clients, and agentic video understanding for its latest Gemini model.
Google Pics launches for AI and Workspace users.
Google Pics, an image production and editing tool based on the Nano Banana concept, will be available in the coming weeks to all Google AI Pro and Ultra members, as well as the majority of Workspace commercial users.
The solution will be offered as a standalone product and integrated into Google Workspace, beginning with Docs and Slides, with Drive integration following in the coming weeks.
Pics allows users to create photographs and apply precise adjustments. It includes object segmentation, in-image text editing and translation, image collaboration, and the ability to generate multiple images from a single prompt.
Gemini introduces agentic video comprehension.
The company has also included agentic video understanding in Gemini 3.7 Flash, 3.6 Flash, and 3.5 Flash-Lite. The functionality is intended to improve video analysis by allowing models to dynamically search and evaluate important areas of a movie, including visual frames, audio, and transcripts.
The company claims that Gemini models that use agentic video understanding may improve accuracy by up to 7% while reducing analysis expenses by up to 66% and token usage by up to 88%.
The feature may be used for applications such as sub-second moment retrieval, long-form video searches, anomaly detection, and time-based counting of objects or activities.
Agentic video understanding is provided for video uploads and YouTube videos via the Gemini API in Google AI Studio and the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. It charges the regular Gemini API token price with no extra feature fees.
The capability will also be available to users of the Gemini app on Flash and Flash-Lite versions. Google said that it will power YouTube’s ‘Ask YouTube’ feature on the video watch page in the coming months.
